It was raining on Dantooine when Enkarn and Tarn arrived on location. Below the purple flowery fields, laid, according to the information Enkarn had gleaned, a container box with artefacts from Dantooine's Jedi Enclave. With the evening fast approaching, the two men decided to lay camp. The day's travel had been uneventful but tiring nevertheless. Half an hour later, they were seated by the campfire, two droidekas, unloaded from the ship, patrolling the area and their vehicles parked nearby.
At first light, they would proceed to the measurements and calculations required to uncover the box - already listing the various tools needed for such an operation. On some level, the evening was a rare opportunity for small talk and to reminisce about better days. The night's silence was broken by the incessant raining, but everything was quiet. Yet, the two men sat in silence.
Call it instinct, call it the Force, call it both, a sense of imminent danger surrounded the campfire and the entire area. In order not to alert needlessly the other, neither said a word about the feeling, but they had worked too much together not to notice. A simple glance was enough to let the other know.
At first light, the tools they reached for were a long cylinder and a rifle, Enkarn left the lightsaber blade scar the morning air and Tarn quickly knelt to open fire. They were coming. The droidekas welcomed the attackers with a flurry of fire, Enkarn slowly advanced to the charging enemies, deflecting shots and switching stances, Tarn shot over and over again.
Despite the furious assault, the attackers had failed their ambush and had attacked in a disorganised fashion. Most fell quickly, but when the air cleared, one left, his cybernetic limbs and Force enhanced reflexes enabling him for faster movement. Still, as he finally fell, a Force apparition hovered for a quick moment, cursing to eternity the two men.
Ironically, the box' value was not as important as once thought, though it contained a dolovite mask, a minor holocron and jedi relics, these items held no particular knowledge that would ultimately contribute to the Emperor's defeat.
