Tranquility

Sometimes running from planets to planets in order to hunt, complete mission, face challenging foes, or partake in the GCW just seems unnecessary. All it takes is to be at the good spot at the good time. Just stepping off the shuttleport in Twin Mountain Base and enjoying the scenery.

TMB Channel

The TMB Channel is back, available for all citizens and guildsmates. This tool should help in strengthening our community by offering the opportunity for citizens and guildsmates alike to chat on a common channel.

While guildsmates could enjoy the /guild command in the chat box, it was limited only to registered members of TMB Player Association, while citizens of TMB didn't have the means to communicate together (except via /tell or /group).

To log in the TMB chat channel :

a) Right click on the chat box tab;
b) Select "join";
c) In the scrolling window look for the "public chat" folder and open it ;
d) Scroll down until you see TMB ;
e) Click "Join" ;

To use the TMB chat channel :

a) Right click on the chat box tab;
b) Select "Modify tab";
c) the TMB channel will be on the left hand window, highlight it and click the central arrow to move it in your main chat box ;
d) you can greet everyone by typing /tmb your message will appear in orange;

Looking forward to meet you there !

Sound planning never hurts...

With the increased readiness of the TMB strike team, time for sound planning has begun. As a small guild, improvising heroics or instance runs is bound to meet with failure, so in order to have a complete enjoyment, let's work ahead.

- Picking a date and time for a Heroic instance. In the case the entire team cannot be fielded, have a roster of friends ready to fill in the gaps. Planning for a fallback option and having everyone know in advance is good too : "On the menu, IG run, fallback NK Necrosis". No surprise to have.
- From there on, everyone to their favorite guides (Allakhazam, swg.wiki, SOE forum), the more informed, the smaller the surprise.
- During the week, everyone gets geared up in a solo or teamwork way, i.e. missions for specific objects, crafting. This includes having a ready camp, etc.
- On the evening, plan for an Ent. to be around (we're working on having a semi-perma ent. in the city, btw).
- Meet up on time and roll in !

Welcoming back Insano

Satuday night was the opportunity to welcome back Insano, a former pillar of the TMB community, who dropped back into Scylla for a moment. A great opportunity to catch up and have fun, in this particular occasion, fun was about going into the Kubaza Beetle Cave with Kohaeg, Iascoeto and Tarn, only to meet defeat at the hands (pincers really) of the Kubaza Beetle Foreman, well beefed up from the haydays and having since learned how to leap across the lava onto the standoff platform. Message to the SWG community : time to update those guides...Next time, we'll come ready with greater numbers and fully geared. At any rate, it was a great time to spend with a friend, hopefully, we'll have the pleasure to see him more often in these parts of the Galaxy. 'Till next time !

Sleepless in Dathomir

On Sunday 25th and Tuesday 27th, TMB teams gathered on the Dathomir broken landsape to hunt gaping spiders, kwi and other rancors helping Skedra levelling faster, before moving to the Nightsister Stronghold to help Darkossk, Arekya and Tarn complete the Nightsister Headdress prequest. With those completed, the TMB team will soon be able to attempt its first Heroics on its own (pending Vilouss and Skedra's levelling completion).

With the last games sessions oriented on teamwork, the likely team to be fielded will comprise of : Jed Hull (Jedi), Kohaeg Noubat (Jedi), Iascoeto Fepa (Jedi), Darkossk (Commando), Ashelin (Officer), Arekya Kreyel (Medic), Tarn Pagott (Spy).

City Hall gearing up for debate

With the elections coming up soon, a new layout for accomodating a public debate between the contenders has been set up in the City Hall's main room.

The new layout, will enable the contenders to seat in front of another, while the audience will seat around them. Being at the audience level, this new setting is intended to show that the TMB leaders ought to be at all times within the community. This setting enables also for a more partipatory debate with direct Q&A. A moderator will still be needed to ensure that the contenders answer all questions and make introductory comments uninterrupted.

From Dantooine to Mustafar

On Friday, May 24th a 5 members strong TMB team roamed the Dantooine fields, north of the city of Order to chase Dark Side Acolytes, Dark Jedi Knights and Dark Jedi Masters ,before moving to the arid lands of Mustafar on wild Kubaza Beetles chases, Malfosa hunting and providing support for various missions, joined by a sixth comrade. Beyond the fun and enjoyment, it was also, the first time that a nearly full group was fielded within the TMB community since the last two months. Displaying solidarity, veterans and younger members worked together, helping one another. In a very trademark TMB fashion, the disparities of levels are seen as an opportunity to learn how to work together until more challenging missions can be met.

Sneaking past the GCW

An unusual sight took place in Restuss two days ago, two purple dots and one red dot on the battlefield, yet, instead of facing one another, facing commonly Aralina Silk with success. This episode was a proud display of solidarity within the TMB community, where members of opposite factions worked alongside for the benefit of the community, here acquiring a famed Jinzu Razor Lightsaber. The group parted afterward, not before contributing in a modest manner to the Imperial domination of Restuss.

First we take Mos Eisley

As usually, it starts quite unexpectedly, running to the spaceport and passed a corner, running into a friend. "Hello, how are you ? Good to see you again". Then another comes up. "Hey good to see you too !" In the situation, the pleasure was even greater, as those are returning players, friends I hadn't see for a very long time. Obviously, this impromptu reunion is discussed by tells and live. Here comes another friend, dropping in to say "Hi". But what I said about taking a turn is true for everyone, and thus, one, then two friends do take the turn. And there we were, citizens, guildsmates, former guildsmates and former citizens chatting pleasantly. If it this was not enough, it was also the opportunity to meet yet someone new and making friends. The pleasure of the community, the challenges of the game, this is a great place to be. No matter what they say about low population servers, just a few good people is more than enough. Thanks for this great moment all.

TMB's mishappenings

With the unannounced departures of Kawi Aenebaf and Lord-godess from the TMB player association, questions rise about their motivations. While Kawi did ask Tarn Pagott about the origin of the guild name, he failed to comment on it, nor did he comment following the original annoucements several weeks ago. Asked about the reasons for leaving TMB, he answered "I just felt like it". Any attempt at second-guessing his motivation would prove hasardous; it may, however, be due to his run for mayorship, in which case, this act could be seen as questioning the current direction taken to merge city and guild.

Lord-godess' motivation for leaving TMB is due to a conflict in her GM (gamemaster) activities. Exactly how it contradicted the GMing functions is unclear as of today. In a recent past, she "inadvertedly" removed herself from the player association and successfully asked to be reinstated. Tip-toeing on decisions might become her current stapple as reminded by her withdrawn registration to run for mayor and her recent factional changes.

Ceremony

Today, Darkossk was sworn into the Twin Mountain Base community during an official ceremony in the City Hall. The ceremony was attended by a small audience.

This ceremony coincided also with Twin Mountain Conclave name change to Twin Mountain Base . The current guild organizational chart has also been reviewed in depth. According to a private Twin mail sent shortly after assuming Twin leadership, Tarn Pagott informed that he would disband Twin's high council. A decision effective today, without objections from guildsmates. Along with the organizational change, permissions have been revised. Absent guildmembers have all beeen stripped from the various permissions they held (sponsor, accept, mail, kick, war). With the current change TMB has now only two officers, Tarn and Kawi (sponsor). A persistent rumor indicates that new officers are sought, but it is currently unverified, with only the private memo asking current guildsmate to come forward if they seek officer positions.

Elections anyone ? (II)

Elections were held in Twin Mountain Base on 18th May, 2008. The incumbent was re-elected unopposed. The next elections will be on June 8th. There are already several candidates for mayorship : Tarn Pagott, Kawi Aenebaf and Lord-Godess who registered but dropped her candidacy.

Interviewed today, M. Aenebaf mentioned his desire to run "a city for a long time", a dedicated candidate to be sure and to be reckoned with. With less than three weeks to go before votes are closed, M. Pagott has a small lead in voting intentions and the race is widely open. The two candidates met briefly and evoked the possibility of a public debate but, as of now, no date has been given.

In a related news, Tarn Pagott plans to have the City Hall entirely refurbished to provide a venue for the debate. While no specifics have emerged from the mayor's office, it seems that the idea of a central debating area was chosen.

Mayor's agenda (II)

While assisting to the inauguration of D Sith Academy in Sparta, Talus, Tarn Pagott was offered the rank of "general" within the newly created guild by Dar'Ness Mandilor, mayor of Sparta and guild leader. This honorary status is a token of friendship between our two community.

As a former member of Twin Mountain Conclave, we wish Dar'Ness to meet with all expected successes in his new endeavor.

Settling in TMB (II) : A Citizen oath

New settlers in Twin Mountain Base (the guild and the city) have to take an oath, it is both an opportunity for rolelplay and a public commitment to the community. The ceremony takes place in the following manner:

New citizens, mayor, militia / guild officers must wear proper attire (formal clothing, uniforms if in the military, no visible weapon). The audience is invited to dress accordingly. While moving into the City Hall, please walk and not run.

Mayor : "I welcome you to the city hall, it represents the effort to build and maintain a community of like-minded sentients, exercising their rights to live among themselves, to chose their leaders and to enjoy the benefits of their chosen careers.
"Our community is based on respect, solidarity and responsibility ; as an Imperial city it upholds Imperial laws and regulations to maintain a just order during troubled galactic times.
"You have come freely towards our community and we will welcome you as a member.
"I will ask you to publicly pledge your commitment to our community."

Citizen: "I ask to be recognized as a member of the community. I understand its rules and accept them, I will show respect and solidarity to my fellows. I understand that my behavior will reflect upon the entire community whenever dealing with outside members and will uphold our community's standards at all times."

Mayor: "I hear your commitment and on behalf of the members of our community, welcome you to it. You shall be recognized as a full member, with the same rights as your fellows. I wish you to develop here long lasting friendships, going well beyond the simple act of solidarity.

Mayor / guild leader : accept sponsored guildmates, /grantzoningrights into the city for settlement.

From Tatooine to Mustafar to Rori

On May, 16th, TMB residents took part in several heroics / instance runs. Defending Mos Espa from the onslaught of the Tusken King, the team failed on phase II. It however met with greater success in the depths of Tulrus Island on Mustafar, when it confronted Malfosa, a fearesome Sher-kar. Carried by this success, the team moved on to confront HK-47, but was eventually defeated by the droid.

In spite of the of the difficulties, the three runs where conducted in a very good spirit and in a spirit of solidarity. The team showed great cohesion. Thanks everyone.

In the meantime, general Hull was imposing Imperial rule on the galacitic civil war fields of Rori, in the ruined city of Restuss. Despite his long career, he is reported to have commented with a child-like surprise on a brazen run from a Rebel Jedi, jumping into the fray with courage or foolishness as his only weapon. Recorded duration on the field : 1mn. Innovative techniques regularly change the course of warfare, clearly this one was not one.

Cartography Frenzy (II)

Twin Mountain Base's geography is worth every credit, or as the Hutts would say every truggut, to map it. Nested on a mesa, the city overlooks the river and, barring strong winds, offer an impeccable view over the region, the Lok Badlands.

There is more however...As the third oldest city on Lok, TMB's perimeter encompasses several features. Built along its main road, Kimogila Way, on an West-East axis, the city layout could be divided in several distinct areas.

The north-western edge of the city is marked by two rocky formations, which act as silent guardians, while the north-eastern side is delimited by the rising mesa and the river. This area, dubbed "ground zero", is home to one of the city's three taverns, one of Kawi's houses, Lord-Godess' houses, Daz & Dirty's Mustafarian house, Darkossk's Mustafarian home and some industrial structures, but it's name is actually the Northern Downtown.

The mesa upon which the city rests, is roughly star or pear shaped, depending on how poetic one wants to be. While technically, an "uptown", Mountainbasers simply call it the city or the Mesa, and for all instance and purposes, it is the actual level 0, the reference level. The mesa itself is home to other smaller areas. The Central Heights, directly above and behind the City Hall, the Eastern Heights or Victory Heights as the statue overlooking the shuttleport will remind the onlooker. Finally, south of the City Hall, a natural pit, formerly overlooked by Pharple Corner, constitutes one of the main driving hazard in the city.

The Eastern Rim of the city extends as far as the river, encompassing it and ending on the cliff. While this area may not be constructible, it is nevertheless a beautiful area to visit. Adventure minded visitors may want to travel downside to a natural ledge, midway between mesa and river level.

The South-Eastern quadrant comprises perhaps the most surprising natural features of the city. Directly passed Eastern Heights, a steep cliff leads to a small pass. On the other side, a smaller mesa, with a quarter inside the city perimeter. Closing the South Eastern quadrant, directly south of the City Hall, another pass leading to a mountain almost perfectly shaped as a circle. The city limits extend to a ledge, a third of the way up. The area below the mesa level, south of Kimogila way, is called the Southern Downtown, and is home to Doogs' house.

Restuss Chronicles (III)

On May 14th, 2008, Imperial forces and Rebel forces battled once again for the control of Restuss. Jed, Dar'Ness and Tarn flew high the colors of TMB/TWIN.

As always, a battle knows several moments, and this one didn't escape the rule. Despite advantagous numbers, the Imperial side suffered early setbacks, thanks to skillful duelling, smart terrain utilisation and a good alternance of tactics on the Rebel side. Imperial Special Forces ended up mostly on a one on one basis, against well prepared opponents. Kudos.

The tide turned however as Imperial forces became more focused and remained grouped. The repeated tactics became more obvious and cohesion was the winner of the day.

An interesting, but short, balanced moment occurred with Rebel reinforcement arriving, which gave place to squad movement, coordination and maneuver. This phase, turned to the Imperial advantage, which had acted more coherently as a group earlier. Rebel special forces didn't have time to adjust to one another and the tactics were visibly messier.

Finally, trench warfare developped as more Imperial forces arrived, helplessly outnumbering Rebel forces, which stayed within a safe distance from the line, as Imperial forces neared the Restuss spaceport. This state of affair surely evolved after that, but TMB/TWIN eyewitness accounts are lacking. Good job everyone, especially our own, but also to all participants.

From Tatooine to Yavin IV

From Tatooine to Yavin IV, citizens and guildmembers of Twin Mountain Base have struggled against all odds to uncover rare archeological treasures or to protect Mos Espa. During the last few days, several runs have taken place - admittedly with varying successes.

They were the opportunity to hone skills and strategies, but mostly to spend a good time in a challenging environment. Hopefully, we will soon be able to have an all TMB/TWIN strike team, capable of operating in the most difficult instances.

Museum of Natural History

Two new items have been added to the Museum, you can have a glimse here or, better still, watch them in the Museum.

The chassis of a Mustafarian mining droid MK3 is on display in the Mining room. These droids are used to collect lava on the volcanic world of Mustafar. Designed to withstand the extremely harsh planetary conditions, they are an invaluable asset to the various mining complexes operating there.

The nerve complex is displayed in the Fauna room, preserved from damages, it acts as a primitive brain for most animal forms. Nevertheless, the development of two distinct halves and the nerve patterns show that the animal has a wide range of actions to use when faced with a threat. It may choose to fight or flee, as well as developping adaptive strategies against an eventual aggessor. These strategies may involve charging, feinting, or finding an appropriate posture. All behaviors of cunning creatures.

Cartography Frenzy

Mapping a metropolis is always an interesting endeavor, especially when the said metropolis sits on a plateau and some constructions are not on the same level. Nevertheless, our fine city is viewable on a map.

Mustafarian buildings, sizing 8x8 had to be omitted since the software used didn't have the template. This certainly would not been possible to do without this great site : http://swgplanner.tyger.org/

Sooner or later, I'll add the street names and index the houses. But, for today, I won't do more. Enjoy.

Developping TWIN

Giving TWIN / TMB its former glory in a low populated server, in competition with the Bria powerhouse and with newer games coming is no small feat. However, despite the apparent difficulty, it can be done and will be. In order to do so, the "plan" is the following :

- Change TWIN name to TMB, not only it sounds better but it also help identifying the guild and the city;
- Disband the current TWIN leadership which does not reflect the current guild population;
- Recruit new guild members;
- Retain as much as the current guild population by providing a gaming framework compatible to their current activities, both ingame and in RL;
- Reconstitute a core group of player;
- Provide facilities : entertainer, medic;
- Increase communications : add a ventrilo channel (metagame), a citywide chat channel (ingame) in addition to the current guildchat, the ingame email (citizens / guild), and this website; other options such as Skype or Xfire may achieve similar results;
- Advertise the city / guild existence on the forum;
- As much as possible, invite players to be part of both TWIN and TMB;
- Invite non-TMB residents but guildsmate to mention TWIN on their house name;

These actions should help develop the following activities :
- A quasi-permanent presence on the server, available for small groups (4-5 players) able to partake in the GCW, themeparks and some instances (such as Mustafar, Kashhyyyk contents);
- Regular events, on a monthly basis, with Scylla casual players for Heroics instances;

Achieving this in a shorter time would represent a great advance for the guild / city and pave the way for a increased presence on the server.

History of TMB (III)

What's in a name ? The naming of Twin Mountain Base was an opportunity to confront the various philosophies that each founder lived by at the time. Although each and everyone enjoyed roleplay , felt strongly about being Imperial, and took a keen interested in the Galactic Civil War, the city's name was bound to be meaningful.

During the discussions, several ideas came forth. Names that would reflect a temporary state were immediately rejected (outpost, village, metropolis even), as the growth of the city would have made it odd. Welcome to the Village, Metropolis, Crafting Center...To name the then outpost after a founder was flattering, but somehow a little too egocentric and unfair to the others. Two trends emerged after a while : to reflect the martial sound of the Empire and to name the city after its surroundings. A first attempt was Marojville after the maroj melon foraged in place of City Hall - the melon on the mayor's desk, by the way - but, it was thankfully rejected. Finally, since the view from the emplacement of the City Hall is of two mountains, Twin Mountain was proposed. Base was immediately added to address the martial content, and the city was named.

The naming philosophy still persists nowadays in the city, streets are named after Imperial leaders (Palpatine Way) and after the city's natural surroundings (my favorite is the now levelled to the ground Pharple Corner).

Museum of Natural History

Welcome to Twin Mountain Base’s Museum of Natural History. This museum was created as a tribute to exploration of both land and space, to hunting and gathering and to understand the galaxy’s traditional cultures. The displays, both life-sizes and miniature, take the visitors step by step through the entire process of meeting the natural world.

The main hall displays the tools and equipments needed to travel afar and is the opportunity to discover cultural artifacts. Visitors can then choose which rooms to visit according to their own preferences, the flora room contains many samples of rare fruits and vegetables, while the fauna room features displays of the most feared predators roaming, such as the krayt dragon or the rancor, but also of more docile creatures. The ground floor also contains the Space Mining room, where asteroid chunks as well as specialized space mining equipment may be examined.

Going underground, visitors will come to face with a Gungan statue, a tribute to yet another native traditional culture. Immediately on the left, the Bioengineering room contains artifacts and art related to this highly scientific endeavor, while traditional equipment is visible, less traditional cloning methods such as brood sacks are also displayed. On the far left of the corridor, a Resource room displays samples of various ores, gases, and materials, while some are quite common, visitors may take a keen interest in less usual pieces such as enderine ore or wind crystal energy. Next, and in the thematic continuation, is the Mineral room, where color, Force or Nak’tra crystals may be seen, not to be missed is an untuned crystal called Sunrunner Destiny, reported to have mystical qualities, observant visitors, will notice that the lighting in this room honors the mineral theme. However, as visitor will then see in the following room, mining resources is a dangerous activity. The Mining room displays artifacts in relation with the mining, such as tools or clothing, an unfortunate Ughnaught once caught in a carbon freezing chamber is a calling reminder of the inherent dangers. Leaving the mining theme, the visitor will discover numerous trophies in the Trophy room as well as equipment needed to hunt wild beasts, such as rare traps (phecnacine trap, glow wire, bone spur). The final underground room contains life size displays of some creatures from the insect reign to domesticated herd animals.

On the first floor, the Aquatic display recreates an immersion in deep and shallow waters, where various specimen of fishes are placed, simulating a school. Finally, visitors may wind down and relax in the lounge, with its cabin style decoration and rustic furnitures or go up to the terrace and enjoy the view on Twin Mountain Base’s main artery, Kimogila Way.

Restuss Chronicles (II)

As the Galactic Civil War continues, so does the participation of TMB citizens ! On Sunday 4th and Monday 5th, TMB elements took part in the daily confrontation. During these epic moments, a valiant general (Rebel) Knine killed (twice) Private Pagott before finally falling under the saber blades of colonel Hull, while on another episode, enemy airstrikes took down a TMB element - not before his first kill of the day.

All in all, with the modifications brought by the current update / chapter, GCW should experience a renewal of officers with the generous collection rewards in place. In this context, it should come as no surprise that colonel Hull's assiduity on the battlefield be rewarded by a promotion to general this coming Thursday with the GCW. All hail.

History of TMB (II)

One of the first question that arose during the foundation days of the city, was whether or not have a guild associated to the city. Prior to the establishment of the city, some players were guilded, others were guildleaders and some were unguilded. Therefore, creating a city guild could have raised evident issues. To complicate the matter, we envisioned a city much like a real city, where people would be free to chose whether to associate with others more closely or not ; at some point we even envisioned to have several official guilds in the city, a TMB-C (for pvp'ers / militia), a TMB-Craft (for crafters and traders), etc...all working as mini-departments of defense, trade and commerce and so on...

Thus, for a very long time, several guilds (related to the city or based outside the city) had representatives in the city, among them Antarian Rangers, Twin Mountain Base Conclave, Ace dedicated to space pvp and many more !

Nowadays, given the server low population, the idea to have a unique player association for the city makes more sense as player associations gameplay options (guild enemy, email, chat channel, storyteller invitation) strengthen the community.

Still, some are attached to their current guilds and can't be blamed for that. So the idea is to progressively bring people into TWIN, first by making it (almost) mandatory to new citizens but foremost by having a strong and active community that would make TMB vets wanting to join.

Mayor's agenda

On Tuesday May 6th, guildleaders Ewevv Naefai from Phenix Rising and Tarn Pagott from Twin Mountain Conclave met to discuss possible cooperation between their respective organizations...

On the agenda, were discussions about the Galactic Civil War, Instance Runs, Event Planning and Story Arcs.

It is believed that the discussions went well, although no leader was available for questions afterwards.

Symbols...

Attentive visitors to the city hall will notice that the statue honoring Nas Choka as Protector of Twin Mountain Base is different from the statue honoring the city founders.

This difference is on purpose, it was fitting to honor Nas' work as a lance-bearer facing the havoc of the galaxy for such a long time.

Restoring TMB / Twin to its former glory

Being an Imperial Liberal : A SWG perspective

Although the ruthlessness of the Empire is well-known throughout the Star Wars narrative, the SWG environment, for game mechanics reasons, challenges the notion of the inherent evil of the Empire. While the storylines developped within the game fall in the mainstream narrative (crush the scum / overthrow the tyranny), the status given to player characters offers a widely different view. Actually, from a game mechanics standpoint, none of the evils credited to the Empire are true. Player characters from all species, genders and ages enjoy the benefits of a free professional pursuit, freedom of residency on habitable planets, freedom of property (including estate), freedom of movement, freedom of association (establishing cities, player associations, or simply gathering), freedom of representation in said associations or even in the NPC city of Bestine (mayoral elections), and finally, freedom of expression. In addition, players residing outside player cities may enjoy the benefits of a tax-free existence ! The only discrimination in place being the cost of factional items for non Humans / Zabraks for Imperial player characters, a descrimination highlighting Imperial forces mindsets, yet not hindering a player to ever become an Imperial general if he / she / it saw fit.

This has two main consequences. First, members of the Alliance to Restore the Republic may justify their participation on generic Star Wars lore and within the SWG narrative (Chapters, mission term lore, Heroics, Instances, etc.) but can hardly say that at any given time they have directly felt the crushing heel of the Imperial boot on their head (unless they are in Combattant or Special Force status). Second, it is a reminder that all citizens in the SWG are equal and since all the visitable / habitable planets are within the Empire, all are, ahem, Imperial citizens whether they like it or not.

As Imperial citizens (of all obediences) it is possible to witness (or actively take part) in stories where the Imperial rule is less than commendable, these point inexorably toward an unjust leadership in the Empire structure. It is for these reasons, that the "Imperial Liberal" comes into play. With undeniable evidences of the Empire's leadership wrongdoings, but in the complete absence of personal rights violation, there's a (small) roleplaying gap that can be filled with Imperial players believing in the Empire as a system but contesting the exercise of the current rule.

A fine line indeed, but shying away from being a Rebel Scum...In the SWG timeframe, the Imperial Senate has just been disbanded, Alderaan has been destroyed in questionable circumstances (Imperial and Rebel mission terminals conflict on this issue) and the Death Star has been destroyed (Death Star fragments are prized items). Thus, questions about the Empire leadership ought to be strongly asked. The situation for Imperial Liberals could be summarized to this : defend the Empire as a system, while imperfect, it's still better than the Old Republic (detailed accounts of slavery, bribery and such appear later in the Star Wars narrative), challenge the leadership over its accountability (disbanding the Imperial Senate is a major setback), support the Alliance to Restore the Republic as a political movement : its motivation is to preserve rights within the Empire (even though it sees itself out of the Empire), condemn the Rebellion as it is not yet justified by the narrative.

Elections anyone ?

The latest elections ended on April 27th, the upcoming elections will take place on May 18th, 2008. With three candidates on the ballot (the incumbent, Nas; Tarn and Kawi), I was very pleased to see how the future of our city springs interest in the community.

This is not the first time our city's future is the object of attention. In 2006, Maraalus Scharix was the unfortunate runner up for the mayorship. This election was the opportunity for a nice roleplaying city hall event with live debates among the candidates. Also, between 2006 and 2007 Febostaf had a successful bid on the mayorship, but later lost to Nas, who reclaimed city hall.

History of TMB (I)

The settlement of Twin Mountain Base is preceded by a first attempt on the planet Tatooine. There, Tarn Pagott and Jed Hull first attempted to create a settlement in the vicinity of Bestine in 2004. While the settlement showed early promises and the area was mostly cleared of dangerous game and outlaws, it eventually was abandoned as a mining corp. moved into the area and laid endless rows of machinery nearby. The handful or so buildings of this original settlement were levelled. Despite the sour experiment, the resolve remained.

By the time a new settlement was envisioned, Jed Hull and Tarn Pagott had been joined by a third comrade, Rettep Sunrunner. It is he who extensively scouted Lok and selected the possible areas in which a settlement could be built, though the final location, on a plateau, was chosen by the three together. At the time of the foundation, the area was home to several wild beasts lairs. Although perleks represented a passing menace, kimogilas could be found in the vicinity as well as Canyon Corsairs and Gurks. This time, the foundation of the settlement was unobstructed and soon, planetary authorities were notified of its creation in December 2004. The settlement rapidly reached over a hundred inhabitants and housed essential facilities such as a shuttleport or a cloning center.

Restuss Chronicles

On Saturday May 3rd, 2008, a 6 men strong Imperial squad built around our city's very own Colonel Jed Hull and Private Tarn Pagott drove a 6 men strong Rebel Special Forces on the run for two hours, while suffering minimal losses.

We would like to laud the good teamwork on the Imperial side, but also, the brave fair-play of the Rebel team, assaulting our forces with perseverence.

Private Ceremony

On May 4th, 2008 a private ceremony was held in Twin Mountain Base's City Hall to thank former Mayor Nas Choka for his devoted service to our city. Nas' mayoral mandate ended on April 27th, 2008 ; he had been mayor since the latter part of 2005.

Jed Hull's integral speech :

"On behalf of myself [Jed Hull] and Tarn Pagott, TMB founders, wed like to thank you for serving as protector or our fine city for so long during our absence. Thanks to your diligent work and hard commitment, this city is now the oldest city on Lok. Thanks for believing in the concept of TMB. In recognition of your efforts, we'd like to offer you a statue. That will rest next to those of three city founders near guild plaza."

The commemorative statue will be permanently displayed in the City Hall to honor the memory of his service, the change of location from Jed's speech was made because we wanted to make sure that each and everyone could easily locate the statue.

Welcome to Twin Mountain Base !

Welcome to Twin Mountain Base's Internet corner. Here you will find various type of information regarding the Twin Mountain Conclave (the guild) and Twin Mountain Base (the city). Among those, city information (elections, population updates, etc.), GCW info (officer promotion, screenshots from battles on Restuss or elsewhere), Guild news, Role playing info (story arcs, etc.), fanfiction or screenshots from the city.

Basically, a bit of everything to cater to all aspects of the game.

This site also serves other purposes, to maintain an active community - even with those that have left the game, but with whom we've shared found memories - and to show that there's still some life on Scylla. Think global, act local as the saying goes !

So whenever away from the game, don't hesitate to drop by and leave a commentary...
