The platform's proximity from the lake may be symbolic of the passing of the soul, journeying to the netherworld. Also the number of weapons left on the rack (3) may hold a symbolic value. Finally, the construction of the totem should be taken into consideration: two bones, then four bones, then a final bone holding a makeshift leather banner. On top of the totem there's a set of two large horns.
